I am writing -- well actually, speaking! -- this post with the aid of my new voice recognition software! I am attempting to do the whole thing only correcting it vocally, so please ignore all the wacky extra spaces and stuff.
This is relatively old software, Dragon 6 (they are up to 9 or 10 now), that I got in a swap (!) -- oh yes, the world has moved on from Panini stickers. (Anyone else impressed that it got Panini?).
Actually what would be more interesting would be if I left it without the corrections (it thought 'impressed' above was actually 'Guinness'). I remember being at University in a computer science lecture, with a lecturer talking about voice recognition; she forgot to turn it off after the demo and so it wrote a lovely story during the rest of the lecture.
I don't have a microphone yet and so am speaking into my keyboard right now (no I am not being bonkers, there's a mini Mike on the keyboard). It is not that great for my posture, and it doesn't like working when the fan is on. I will have to get a proper microphone and get used to it some more. However, it is pretty impressive.
Now I'm off to dictate some e-mails that have been languishing unreplied to in my inbox... Let's hope I don't get voice nodules, eh?
